The Regional Dialogues (NorthWest-Kaduna) Youth-led Dialogue on Biodiversity Restoration and Conservation in Nigeria, hosted by SustyVibes x Bioverse NG, focused on the importance of biodiversity conservation and also the role of youth and organizations in that process.

The regional dialogue explored the challenges facing biodiversity conservation in Nigeria, and how young people can take action to protect and restore the ecosystems. The event featured presentations and discussions on different topics such as sustainable living, climate change, and environmental education, role of GIS on Climate Change, etc. 

Prof. Auwal Abdussalam - Keynote Speaker

Prof. Auwal Abdussalam is an Associate Professor of Applied Meteorology and Environmental Sustainability. Currently serves as a Director of Academic Planning at Kaduna State University.


The participants shared ideas and insights on how to create a more sustainable future for Nigeria and its biodiversity. The event highlighted the need for collaboration and cooperation between different stakeholders, including government, civil society, and the private sector. Overall, the dialogue provided a platform for young people to share their perspectives and ideas on biodiversity conservation, and to connect with others who are passionate about this issue.

Mr. Yakub Yunus - Panelist 

Mr. Yakubu Yunus holds a HND in Cartography and GIS, PGD in GIS and Remote Sensing, Certificate in Draught Manship, working experience spans the private sector and public sector where he worked with Archimodes Associates, CIV STRUCT, Prime Archtech and Currently department of Geography Kaduna State University.




Hajiya Hikmat Zakari - Panelist

Hajiya Hikmat Zakari is a trained GIS analyst and a Certified Cartographer who has participated in several mapping and analysis projects within Nigeria and engaged in various workshop, seminars, conferences both as a resource person and a participant.



Hajiya Faiza Musa - Panelist 

Hajiya Faiza Musa
attended Kaduna State University for her first degree in Geography. She obtained her second degree in Geographic Information System (GIS) from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria. She is currently a senior Research Officer with the Nigerian Institute of Trypanosomiasis Research (NITR) as a GIS analyst.

Muhammad Abubakar is a lecturer at the Department of Geography, Kaduna State University. He is currently running his PhD on Natural Resource Management and Climate Change.




Muhammed Sambo Obtained a BSC in Geography from the prestigious Kaduna State University. He is currently undergoing his masters from the same institution. His core skills include monitoring and recording of atmospheric events; data collection, analysis and interpretation; and climate modelling among others.

Algeria: Djurdjura National Park

Djurdjura National Park Djurdjura National Park is a protected area in northern   Algeria   that’s known for its tall peaks and deep gorges. The park is also home to many grottoes, which is rare in the region. There are 14 named mountains in the park. The tallest and most prominent is   Lalla Khedidja   at 2,308 m (7,572 ft) in elevation with 1,718 m (5,636 ft) of prominence. Geography    Djurdjura National Park is situated in northern Algeria. Located in the Tell Atlas mountains, the park has both vast forests and towering rugged peaks. The park spans 185 sq. km (71 sq. miles) across the provinces of Bouira and Tizi Ouzou. The Tell Atlas mountains are home to the Djurdjura massif for which the park is named. Lalla Khedidja is the tallest peak in the massif and the park.
