On the 16th of September, 2023, SustyVibes organised a World Cleanup Day event that saw a gathering of environmentally conscious individuals and organisations in Kaduna State, Nigeria. The event began at 8:00 AM with the arrival of all volunteers and opening remarks from Nazir Muhammad Chobal, and OMEP Kaduna State Chapter President, Hajiya Zulaiha Yunusa.
The cleanup exercise was carried out along Polytechnic Road with the volunteers packing litter and garbage while advocating for a cleaner environment in Hausa and English languages. Passersby and residents were interviewed along the way, with the campaign receiving huge applause from them. The event was also covered by Alheri DITv and Freedom Radio, both from Kaduna.
In attendance were other environmentally conscious organisations such as OMEP, Raycare Foundation, Brave Activists, YALI, Zango Youth Mobilisation Forum, Bridge The Gap, and a governmental agency, KEPA. The event was a collaborative effort to create a cleaner environment and raise awareness about environmental challenges.
The campaign ended at exactly 10:11 AM at Lemu Road, Panteka Market. The moment was used to create connections between organisations and individuals, with refreshments offered. Photo shots and group discussions further encrusted the moment.
In conclusion, the World Cleanup Day event organised by SustyVibes was a huge success, with volunteers and organisations coming together to make a difference in the environment. The event was a reminder of the importance of collective efforts in creating a cleaner and safer environment for all.
